VOICE OF HOPE
13 July 2022
God is the author and finisher of our faith. He is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. The self-existent God who alone possesses immortality and dwells in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see, to Him be honor and eternal dominion (1 Timothy 6:16).
God is a God who says what He says and no man has the authority to question Him for He is not a man who should lie, nor a human being that he should change His mind, does He speak and not act? Does he promise and not fulfill (Numbers 23:19)?
God is also Almighty and powerful. The word of God declares that it is by God’s great power and outstretched arm that heaven and earth were created. I think if we look at Christianity today and see how many believers have lost the fear of God within themselves, they are no longer walking in fear and trembling before the Father. If we look at the time of Moses he ordered Moses to tell the Israelite families to sacrifice a lamb and smear the blood on their doors. Now many miss this and even today pray very wrongly when they pray and say “Father protect and keep me under your blood" forgetting that the blood was never to protect them from evil but to protect from God, that’s how mighty and Powerful God is that he had to send His son Jesus as a sacrifice so that we may be saved from God’s powerful hand, we undermine God’s power. Therefore, we should walk in fear and trembling before the Father.
God is omnipresent meaning that he is everywhere. Psalms 139:7-10 declares “Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens you are there, if I make my bed in depths you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.”.
God is omniscient meaning having infinite awareness, understanding, and insight. 1 Corinthians 2:9-11 declares “However as it is written, what no eye has seen, what no ear has heard and what no human mind has conceived, the things God has prepared for those who love him, these are the things God has revealed to us by His spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God for it knows a person’s thoughts except for their own spirit within them? In the same way, no one knows the thoughts of God except the spirit of God.”
God is omnipotent meaning having unlimited power. Luke 1:35 declares “The holy spirit will come to you, come on you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you, so the holy one to be born will be called the son of God”.
Above all God is Love, He is merciful and slow to anger. He is the greatest and most powerful being that exists. What God has spoken in Genesis 1 only continues because God continues to sustain it and for that reason, He is worthy of all praise.
God alone is the great and mighty God whose greatness is unsearchable yet knowable.
