12 Weeks of Prayer Week 10 Day 4

When The Word Is Taken Out of Context

By Justin N. Citro

"Blessed be the Lord my strength

which teacheth my hands to war,

and my fingers to fight."

Psalm 144:1

The world today loves making a habit of taking the Word of God out of context and twisting it to fit the agenda of the devil. The Word of God is sacred to the Christians as it is our guide in dark times.

Why do Christians enjoy taking the Word of God out of context? In Hebrews 4:12, it says, "For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." The Word is a tool which discerns our thoughts, exposing our true intentions and motives behind our actions and words. If the Bible is a tool for such a task, why do those who claim to have a relationship with the Lord take that verse and many others and change to fit their agenda? Greed is the key element to twisting the Word of God, and the reason people change the Word is so that more people can be spiritually toyed with instead of being actually fed. The true followers of Christ want to be fed the Word for it is our sustenance to receive revelation and insight; and they will not twist the Word of God for their own selfish gain.

Since the Word of God is a Lamp unto our feet, how can we use the light if someone is putting a shade over it? The Bible always must be presented, preached, and taught in a manner pleasing to God, who inspired His servants to write the Books of the Bible. We as Christians must take stands to protect the Word of God from being twisted. Psalms 144:1 KJV says, "Blessed be the Lord my strength which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight." Here what the Psalmist is saying is that the Lord teaches and trains us for battle. The Word of God trains us for battle against the enemy, and the enemy wants to see the Bible destroyed. However, as long as The Lord our God is on the throne, the Word of the Lord shall go forth until the glorious return of Christ our King!!!! Brothers and Sister, I encourage you to be constantly read up in the Word and learn how to defend yourself against the devil by constantly reading the Word. Heavenly Father, thank You for everything You have done. Lord, I thank You for Your Word. Lord, I ask You to help me stay firm in everything it says. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
