12 Weeks of Prayer Week 3 Day 2

12 Weeks of Prayer Week 3 Day 3

THE CHURCH MUST AWAKEN

By Justin N. Citro

"Be sober, be vigilant;

because your adversary the devil,

as a roaring lion, walketh about,

seeking whom he may devour."

1 Peter 5:8

The Church must awaken to receive revelation. If we look at the current state of the Church today, the church is in a current state of slumber, meaning the church has chosen to sleep in a time where being awake and alertness are key. In these last days, being alert to the everchanging world is key for the survival of the Church for if the Church is not aware of the current situation of the world how can the Church react? The Church must awaken to the spiritual things going on. Let us go into the Word to see what it says about being awake. The Bible says in 1 Peter 5:8 KJV, "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour." This one verse here in first Peter perfectly describes why we must be attentive to the world around us. The verse is giving us a commandment here, and the command is to be sober and vigilant. We must be up and alert to what is happening around us, for if we are not, the devil is ready to attack. Christians, we must be alert and awake for if we are asleep, we will are open for attack. The hope I give to you is this, My Brothers and Sisters: Be vigilant, make sure you are right with the Lord, and guard your mind for the first thing the devil goes for is a weak mind. Build your mind on the Word of God. As always be open to receive what the Lord wants to tell you. Remember that those who are asleep and are not aware of the things that are going on in the world will be the first to be attacked by the devil. Heavenly Father, I thank You for Your Church, and Lord, I pray that You awaken Your Church. Lord, watch over Your church. Lord, I pray for forgiveness if I have sinned, and Lord, I thank You that You are still on the throne watching over and protecting us! In Jesus' Name, Amen!
