12 Weeks of Prayer Week 7 Day 3
WHEN A BELIEVER BETRAYS
ANOTHER BELIEVER
By Justin N. Citro
"A false witness shall not be unpunished,
and he that speaketh lies shall not escape."
Proverbs 19:5
In the body of the church, there are people who portray themselves as godly Christian people, but in reality, these people are only in the church to do one of two things: make friends with fellow believers or betray them and sell them out for their own personal satisfaction. These people are there to do one purpose, and that purpose is to cause division in the church. The betrayal of church members by other church members is a common occurrence plaguing the church today. The contest of outdoing each other for worldly benefit is a sin. The Church is meant for fellowship amongst fellow believers in praising God for everything He has done. We, as the Church, should be working together in all things being as one body instead of fighting. The Bible says in the book of Proverbs 19:5 KJV, "A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall not escape." As well in the Gospel of Matthew 6:14-15 KJV, "For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses." Here these two passages explain to us the dangers of lying to a fellow believer and what happens when we don't forgive fellow believers. It is a two-way street when it comes to betraying other Christians. The first thing is to the one doing the betraying: be careful where you tread because leading a fellow believer astray is a serious sin in the eyes of the Lord, for whose child are you if you are leading someone astray? The second thing is to the believer who has been betrayed: you must quickly forgive the one who has sinned against you for that is correct in the eyes of the Lord. I encourage you, My Fellow Believers, to test the spirit of everyone around you for you do not know if there people out there who want the best for you or to bring you down. Heavenly Father, I thank You for everything You have done. Lord, I ask You for discernment in the people who are around me. Lord, I pray that You turn away anyone that does not have the best interest at heart for me. In Jesus' Name, I pray Amen!
