19 DOP: VICTORY OVER SELFISHNESS AND INDULGENCE OF POWER Day 13

VICTORY OVER SELFISHNESS

AND INDULGENCE OF POWER

19 DAYS OF PRAYER DAY 13

Written By Linda A. Knowles

“Let no one seek his own good, but the good of his neighbor.”

1 Corinthians 10:24

This day and age has left some of us shaking our head. We have heard the world's philosophy, "Look out for Number 1" and "Do what feels right to you." God made no exceptions for anyone when His Word makes it clear that each will be held accountable before Him for all they say and all they do. "So then, each of us will give an account of ourselves to God," (Romans 14:12). That verse alone is a sobering thought, and that verse does not just apply to the average person walking the street. All leaders, authority, and government officials are no different than you and me except for the position of leadership for which God has ordained them. For instance, I am not the President of the United States, but God saw fit to put our current President in the highest office of the land for such a time as this. Why does God do this? Because God Himself is the one who raises people up and also brings them down according to what Daniel 2:21 says, "He changes the times and seasons; He removes kings and establishes them. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning."

Prayer: Heavenly Father, You are the God who opposes the proud and gives grace to the humble. You are the One who raises people into positions of power and You bring them down. We recognize You as Sovereign and still in control. You are the One who has ordained and chosen those who are in authority, and it is through You and in You that we claim victory over those who would take advantage over the people You have given them authority over. Lord, those who are enemies to our President, we ask You remove them in Jesus' Name. We claim victory of the abuse of power and over selfishness and ask that You let Your Holy Spirit fall over our legislative, executive, and judicial branches. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
