REFINER'S FIRE

REFINER'S FIRE

By Rev. Dr. Teresa Allissa Citro

Founder and President of Thread of Hope, Inc.

"The refining pot is for silver and the furnace for gold,

But the LORD tests the hearts.”

Proverbs 17:3

God allows some people to go through the refining pot so that all impurities are gone. We must go through the furnace of fire to come out as pure gold. Pure gold can be molded and bent.

Whatever you're going through, it is specifically designed by the Master Refiner for you. It is orchestrated so that it will bring you out as pure silver and gold. God is shaping and molding you to be whom He created you to be. Remember God uses the trials and its process to show what's really in us that needs to change. He already knows. It’s you and me that need to know. The heart is, then, revealed. Ouch, sometimes buried deep in our hearts there’s ugliness and evil things. God must burn them out.

No matter what trial let's allow the Master Refiner do what He must do. He knows how much heat is needed so that the silver and gold isn't destroyed in the process of making the masterpiece.

Abraham, Jacob, Joseph, Daniel, and especially, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego (Who went right inside the burning furnace and weren’t burned up.) Nothing has changed. We, too, must go through the fire. It’s what we do before the fire and during the fire that determines the outcome. Are we gold or silver?

May the refining pot and the furnace produce the finest silver and gold this Christmas season in all of us. Burn away, God, all that displeases You, cause you sorrow, and embarrassment in us. Bring out that shiny silver where Your face shines through, and the priceless gold that You have deposited in us.

More costly than silver, more precious the gold is who I want to be.
