GOD'S COMPASSION TOWARD YOU
By Pastor Michael Heil
"O LORD, You have searched me and known me. You know when I sit down and when I rise up; You understand my thought from afar. You scrutinize my path and my lying down, And are intimately acquainted with all my ways."
Psalms 139:1-3
GOD’S CARE AND COMPASSION TOWARDS US: We are intimately known by God, and yet, He still loves us and cares for us! According to verse one, He knows our failures; He knows our sins, and He knows all those dark, desperate places in our lives. Those places we would never tell anyone, much better than we know ourselves. Yet, He still loves us.
Oh, God, not only do You know us, but you know where we go, where we have been. You even know what’s in our heart about places we would like to go. God, there is nothing about us that is hidden from you. You understand our thoughts, even when we don’t understand them ourselves.
You scrutinize our path; the Hebrew word here indicates You fan, or You winnow, or You disperse. What do You fan, winnow, disperse, but those obstacles and barriers that are a danger to us in our lives. You take them out of the way before we even get there! Selah.
God, we confess we fall way short of understanding the depth of Your love, but what You’ve said here is so amazing to us, that You would care for us this much. You’re intimately acquainted with all we have done, and still, you love us. We thank you, Lord. We worship you, Lord, for Your love that never gives up on us for believing in us when we don’t even believe in ourselves. Hallelujah!
